    1. Information we collect

    Account information

When you create an account we collect your email address and authentication details needed to sign you in and secure your account. Your password is handled by our authentication provider and is not stored by us in readable form.

    Plant photos and images

The core function of the App is to analyse plant photographs. We collect the images you choose to capture with your camera or select from your device to submit for identification and disease analysis. When a scan is completed, the submitted image and a generated thumbnail are stored in your account so you can view your scan history and archive.

    Payment and transaction information

HerbEye uses a credit system for paid features. When you purchase credits, payment is processed by our third-party payment providers (Stripe and Paynow). We do not collect or store your full card or bank details; those are handled directly by the payment provider. We retain a record of your transactions, credit balance, and purchase history.

    Usage and app activity

We collect information about how you use the App, such as scans performed, features used, and your remaining credit balance, to operate the service and maintain your history.

    Device and technical information

We may collect limited technical information such as device type, operating-system version, app version, and diagnostic or crash data to keep the App working reliably and to fix problems.

    2. How we handle your photos

HerbEye only accesses the specific photos you actively capture or select. When you choose an existing photo, you select it through your device’s system photo picker, which grants the App access to that single image and nothing else. The App does not request broad access to your device’s photo library and cannot browse or read images you have not chosen to submit.

Photos you submit are uploaded to our secure backend for the sole purposes of plant identification, disease recognition, and storing your personal scan history and thumbnail archive.

    3. How we use your information

To identify plants and detect plant diseases from the photos you submit.

To generate suggested remedial actions and herbal-use information for your results.

To create and maintain your personal scan history and thumbnail archive.

To operate the credit system, process purchases, and prevent abuse.

To authenticate you, secure your account, and provide customer support.

To monitor, troubleshoot, and improve the performance and reliability of the App.

    To comply with legal obligations.

    4. Third-party services

We share data only as needed to run the App, and only with the providers below. Each processes data under its own privacy policy.

Plant-identification and image-analysis providers — receive the plant images you submit to return identification, disease-recognition, and suggested-remedy results.

Supabase — provides our backend database, file storage, and authentication; stores your account data, images, thumbnails, and history.

Stripe — processes card and international payments for credit purchases.

Paynow — processes local (Zimbabwe) payments for credit purchases.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own advertising or marketing.

    5. Storage, security & retention

Your data is stored on our backend provider’s secured infrastructure. We apply reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect it, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

We retain your account data, images, thumbnails, and history for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. When you delete a scan it is removed from your history. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymise your associated personal data, except where we are required to retain certain records (for example, transaction records) to meet legal or accounting obligations.

    6. Your rights & choices

Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. You can:

View and delete individual scans from within the App.

Request access to, correction of, or deletion of your account and associated data by emailing us at quomodox263@gmail.com.

We will respond to verified requests within a reasonable time and as required by applicable law.

    7. Children’s privacy

HerbEye is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

    8. International data transfers

We operate from Zimbabwe, and our service providers may store and process data in other countries. Where your information is transferred across borders, we take steps to ensure it remains protected in line with this policy and applicable law.

    9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you within the App. Your continued use of HerbEye after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
